Sign-up itself is free, and you can create an account and look around without entering a card. Running a search is what requires a trial or a subscription.

It is 3 days, it requires a payment method up front, and it converts automatically unless you cancel. We say that plainly rather than burying it, because a trial that surprises you into a charge is a bad trial:

• You are not charged today. The card is authorised, not billed.
• 5 searches per day during the trial — enough to run several real roles end to end.
• We tell you the exact charge date before you enter a card, and again in an email once the trial starts.
• We email you before the first charge, not after it.
• Cancel before the trial ends and nothing is charged. No form, no email to support, no retention flow — Billing → Manage subscription → Cancel plan.
• One trial per account. Cancelling and re-subscribing does not start a new free trial.

Why require a card at all? Because a single search costs us real money in model calls and consumes a large share of a GitHub API budget shared across all users. A card-free trial would be consumed almost entirely by automated abuse, and the cost of that lands on the people who are actually evaluating the product.

Two hard constraints, and being specific about them is more useful than the word “fair use”.

GitHub’s API budget.A single realistic search costs roughly 500 API calls, and an authenticated token allows 5,000 core requests an hour. That is about nine full searches an hour across the entire service, no matter how fast the code is. The daily cap is what stops one heavy user degrading everyone else’s results mid-run.

Model cost. Every search runs one careful pass to turn your job description into a query plan, then scores roughly 130 candidates individually with a written reason. That is not a rounding error per search, and it is the honest reason the cap exists rather than an artificial upsell.

What the caps mean in practice: 10 searches a day is comfortably more than one recruiter working several roles needs. If you genuinely need more, email info@workonward.com — that is a conversation, not a paywall.

One thing to know: a search counts once it starts, because the work — the GitHub calls and the model calls — is spent at that point. Cancelling a running search stops it but does not return the credit.

Cancelling during the trial means you are never charged. Cancelling on a paid subscription stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We email you a confirmation either way.

• Query planning from plain English. Paste a job description; the languages, ecosystem topics, star floor and activity window are derived for you.
• Discovery and screening. Repository search, contributor mining, deduplication, bot and organization filtering, activity screening.
• Ranking with reasons. Every candidate is scored against your specific role on language depth, recent activity and project relevance — with a short written explanation, so you can disagree with it.
• Contact resolution. The four-source public-email cascade, which reaches 93% of a contributor-mined pool, with MX validation and privacy-artifact filtering.
• Curation. Talent pools, per-candidate status, and CSV export.
• Private data. Your searches and lists are scoped to your account, in our own self-hosted database.

Worth saying explicitly, so the trial isn’t how you find out:

• No email sending. GitFinder finds people and gives you a usable address. It does not send sequences, and deliberately so — bulk-blasting a sourced list is the fastest way to a spam complaint.
• No ATS integration today. Export is CSV.
• No non-GitHub sources.No LinkedIn, no scraping behind a login. GitHub’s public data is the whole substrate.
• No background checks or screening reports. This is a sourcing tool for deciding who to talk to, not a consumer report, and it must not be used as one.
• No guarantee of coverage. Roughly a third of the email addresses in public commit metadata are privacy artifacts we refuse to work around, and plenty of excellent engineers keep no public code at all.

We’ve deliberately left competitor names and figures out of that table. Published pricing in this category changes constantly and much of it is only available under a sales conversation, so any number we printed would be wrong within a quarter — and quoting a rival’s price from memory is how comparison pages become inaccurate. Is the price per user?

No. $49.00 per monthcovers the account, and the daily search limit is the account’s.

Are taxes included?

No — $49.00 is exclusive of tax. Where we are registered to collect it, sales tax or VAT is calculated at checkout and added on top. You can enter a VAT or tax ID at checkout.

What appears on my statement?

GITFINDER.

Which payment methods work?

Card payments, handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Is there an annual plan?

Not yet. Monthly only, so leaving is easy and we have to keep earning it.

Do you offer refunds?

Cancel during the trial and there is nothing to refund. Beyond that, the specific situations we refund are set out in the Terms — and nothing there limits your statutory consumer rights.

What happens if a payment fails?

We email you, searches are paused rather than the account being deleted, and you can update the card from the billing page. Your saved lists stay put.
